The Calendar Says Fall, But Your Skin Says Spring.

The Calendar Says Fall, But Your Skin Says Spring.

In case you haven’t received your “pumpkin spice everything” email from Williams Sonoma, this is your notification that fall has officially arrived. And a change in seasons means a change in skin care to keep looking your most radiant and youthful. Just like your table-scape, though slightly less overtly, your skin adjusts to fall weather and environment. Here are some tips for transitioning your skin care regimen from summer to fall for optimum results.

  1. Evaluate your cleanser

If your skin tends toward dry, you may want to think about switching to a more nourishing cleanser as fall’s cooler temps pull more moisture from the skin. Vivant’s creamy Cleansing Milk with antioxidant grape seed oil is specially formulated to refresh and renew dry, sensitive, mature or rosacea skin. A great choice to keep skin soft, supple and youthful even while the leaves outside dry and wither.

  1. Bring Back The Moisturizer

The humidity of summer often means excess moisture in the skin. If you cut back on the moisturizer during the summer to compensate, now would be a good time to reintroduce some replenishment. Our favorite for dry or mature skin is Marine Skin Nourishing Cream, an ultra-hydrating, antioxidant-rich blend of bioactive marine minerals and proteins that leaves skin feeling silky smooth and abundantly nourished.

  1. Take On Trouble Spots

After a season of sun, you may be noticing some new dark spots forming on your skin. This is the melanin in your skin reacting to UV exposure. To make matters worse, cell turnover is slower in aging skin, so photo-damage becomes more apparent. Combat dark spots with Vivant’s Derm-A-Gel® patented vitamin A therapy to accelerate cell renewal and keep age spots from developing to maturity.

  1. Step up the exfoliation

Exfoliation is essential to keeping skin looking bright and youthful any time of year, but especially now. Skin that’s been subject to sunscreen, sweat, and excess oil all summer long, may be experiencing a complexion-dulling accumulation of dead skin cells and debris. If you’ve already been using a retinoid product, your skin has likely become acclimated and less responsive to its effects. Now is the perfect time to take your treatment up a notch to Exfol-A™ level II, which blends vitamin A and alpha hydroxy acids to stimulate cell renewal, diminish the appearance of age spots and fine lines, and promote collagen production for firmer, more youthful looking skin

  1. Get an antioxidant boost

Antioxidants provide a protective shield against free radical damage caused by exposure to sun and pollution. Defend your skin with Vivant’s Spin Trap® Antioxidant Serum, which combines two potent antioxidant heroes, vitamins C & E, in one synergistic formula to neutralize free radicals, protect from damaging UV and environmental stressors, and promote regeneration of healthier, glowing skin.

  1. Try On A Mask

Before the stress of the holidays sets in, work in a weekly restorative and refining mask to optimize skin’s tone and texture. Vivant’s Algae Soft Mask provides a super-concentrated blend of antioxidant marine minerals, amino acids and proteins to remove impurities, encourage collagen and elastin production and nourish a healthy, supple glow. It’s a radiance-booster with a relaxation bonus.

  1. Don’t Discount The Sun

Summer may be over, but the sun is still out. Sun protection worn under your makeup or on its own should be part of your daily routine to protect skin from sneaky photo-damage that can happen even when you’re just out running errands or on your way to work. Remember that deeply penetrating UVA rays are not stopped by glass, so in even in your car, you’re exposed. Vivant’s Day Treatment Lotion SPF 15 provides UVA/UVB protection and hydration in a light, non-greasy, non-comedogenic formula for all skin types.

Winter is coming, but that doesn’t have to mean dry, dull skin. Tweak your routine to repair summer’s excesses and keep pace with your skin’s responses to seasonal changes, and you’ll keep your glow all season long.
