Dial in Your Serum Strategy with Our Pairing Recommendations
Serums are the workhorses of your skin care stable. They are the formulas that repair, protect, prevent, and rejuvenate with highly concentrated, transformative ingredients to target specific concerns like acne, signs of aging, or discoloration. Every skin needs at least one. Most could benefit from two or more. Which ones you choose, how you pair them, and when you use them can mean the difference between great results and stellar results. To ensure the latter, it pays to deploy a little serum strategy.
Find Your Level
Vivant’s Vitamin A and Mandelic Acid serums are designed in a graduated potency system. It’s best to start with level one or the lowest percentage to allow your skin to acclimate. A little redness? A little flaking? That’s part of that process. When it ends, your skin is acclimated. You can move up to the next level to push your results farther, or remain at your current level for maintenance.
Mix Your Perfect Cocktail
Vivant’s patented Vitamin A therapies are formulated with the most effective retinoid available without a prescription. These will peel out impactions, lift pigment from the surface of the skin, and work at the cellular level to repair and strengthen skin structure and reduce signs of aging.
Mandelic Acid formulas have many of the same benefits but are gentler making them good for sensitive skin or dark skin prone to hyperpigmentation. Mandelic acid’s antibacterial, brightening, micro-exfoliating properties give theses formulas some bonuses for treating acne, aging, and discoloration.
Spin Trap Antioxidant Serum (powerful antioxidant support, protection from UV damage, enhanced radiance, and increased collagen production) and Rejuv Rx (peptide-rich for firming tone, relaxing wrinkles, and reducing redness) are recommended to boost brightening or ageless regimens. Boosting with a bleaching serum supercharges a brightening regimen.
Dial in Your Schedule
While all the serums can be used morning or night, certain factors make one or the other optimal. At the start of the day, you can use more protection from UV; this is a good time for antioxidants and peptides. Sleep is your body’s natural repair cycle so night time will maximize the benefits of your more intensive rejuvenating treatments. And Vitamin A can make skin more sensitive to the sun, so we recommend using it at night. The rule of thumb: Protect in the AMs, treat in the PMs.
Now that you understand the basics, how do you determine the specifics? Here’s a quick reference guide to help you find the right combination for your skin type, tone, and goals.
